"Our commitment: exceed client's expectations and create golf courses that are strategic by nature, playable by all golfers, & profitable to owners". - Todd Schoeder, Principal iCon Golf Studio
The foundation for a successful project relies heavily on collaboration and is set at the beginning ofa project, during the concept discovery phase, and continues rhythmically through the entire design process.
Our golf design projects are developed through a process that involves golf designers, planners, engineers, and landscape architects to ensure the overall plan is comprehensively conceived and implemented. We believe in collaboration. In our experience, which consists of over a 100 years of collective experience planning, designing and implementing a variety of golf course projects, there are a few fundamental principles behind successful collaborations — with clients, architects, other consultants and communities. We believe in collaboration philosophically and in practice.
Creating solutions to design problems in an inclusive context where decision making is transparent yields more comprehensive, thorough and accountable project outcomes. It takes both confidence and humility to practice this way. Among our team, we believe we have the right combination of creative design force that will deliver a great project and achieve your vision and sustainable outcomes.
Sustainable golf course development involves meeting critical standards in three major areas: planning and design, construction and maintenance. iCon Golf specializes in environmental sensitivity in planning and design, with extensive experience in construction Best Management Practices.
We keep current with the new technologies in all three areas. We also employ a series of environmentally integrated golf design systems that ensure every site is treated as carefully as possible through the development and life of a course. Our process includes constant referral to cutting-edge practices researched by the golf industry’s main organizations, including the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, United States Golf Association and Audubon International. Using our experience, we design courses to fit naturally into the environment as if they have existed for centuries. Simply stated, our courses do not harm the environment.
Strong and effective project management is essential in conducting successful design and construction projects. Our team has fulfilled the role of project manager on hundreds of engagements involving multiple stakeholders and has developed rigorous project management standards for all of our projects. Our project management system provides for quick response from the Project Manager, tight controls of project budgets and easy access to the Project Manager, Principal-in-Charge and other team members.
We propose a regular and efficient communication strategy to maximize the value of everyone’s time. While the project team will meet more formally at certain points during the project, periodic update conference calls will facilitate communication on a regular basis and help the team address issues as they arise.
We strive to ensure quality assurance and quality control through clear communication and dialogue with clients. We will maintain project schedules and project milestones, will identify and monitor critical paths to success for the project and will track and report budget items to the client team promptly and efficiently.
Understanding and addressing various challenges associated with a project in both design and construction is critical to its success. Our approach and understanding, along with our multi-disciplinary background address all possible challenges that could arise. Obviously, it is difficult to identify each and every risk in advance but the more items identified and answered up-front, the better the chances of meeting the schedule and budget.
Our team has planned, designed, constructed and maintained numerous golf facilities in a variety of climates and conditions across the country. Each of these projects had their own risks and challenges. This experience in dealing with risks on other projects will allow us to confidently identify potential risks for our clients, and then offer solutions to minimize or in most cases eliminate the risk altogether.
